Just Fund: A New Way to Fund Your Family Law Matter
Going through a separation is hard enough without also worrying about how to pay for the legal help you need. It's a concern we hear often, and one of the things that can prevent the fair outcome you are entitled to.
That's why we've partnered with JustFund, New Zealand's only dedicated finance provider for family law matters. Through this partnership, eligible clients can access a flexible line of credit to cover legal fees and disbursements relating to their separation or relationship property matter, without needing to find that money upfront.
How it works
JustFund provides a line of credit that pays your legal invoices directly, so you can get the advice and representation you need as your matter progresses. Rather than paying as you go, repayment happens once your matter settles, from the proceeds of that settlement, so you don’t need the cash to pay fees in the meantime.
Who might this help?
This will help people who don't have ready access to funds to pay legal fees, for example if your ex controls most of the household finances, or if your assets are tied up in property or a business and can't easily be accessed until things are resolved.
Rather than assessing eligibility mainly on income or employment the way a typical lender would, JustFund looks at the individual circumstances of your matter, including your likely entitlement under the Property (Relationships) Act. Eligibility is assessed on a case-by-case basis, but if cost is a barrier for you, it's worth finding out whether this could be an option.
